Augusta Aiken, GA, October 23, 2026 —

Former Richmond County deputy Patrick Cullinan is reflecting on the lasting psychological effects that officer-involved shootings can have on law enforcement, following recent shootings of two deputies in the Augusta-Aiken area, also known as the CSRA.

The account centers on Cullinan’s own experiences and the importance of peer support for officers dealing with trauma. It describes the potential impact as profound and lasting, while offering no further detail about Cullinan’s experiences or the support he received.

Information provided about the recent shootings is limited. The dates and locations of the incidents, the deputies’ names and conditions, and the circumstances surrounding the shootings were not provided. No details were given about whether the incidents involved officers firing their weapons or about any investigation or official response.

The available account also does not identify a specific peer-support program, describe how support is organized, or include comments from other officers or authorities. It does not specify what Cullinan said about the effects he experienced. As a result, his reflection is presented here only in the broad terms available: that officer-involved shootings can have profound, lasting psychological effects and that peer support matters for officers coping with trauma.

The account places attention on the emotional consequences for law enforcement after shootings, alongside the immediate events themselves. Further details about the two recent incidents and Cullinan’s experiences were not provided.
